HiKOKI Sustainability & Environmental Program

A commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility

Our vision and values

  • At HiKOKI Power Tools, we are driven by innovation and quality. We aim to provide our customers with reliable, durable, and efficient power tools that meet their needs and expectations.
  • We also recognize our responsibility to protect the environment and minimize the environmental impact of our products and operations. We are committed to complying with all applicable environmental laws and regulations, and to continuously improving our environmental performance and practices.
  • We believe that environmental sustainability is not only a moral duty, but also a source of competitive advantage and business opportunity. We strive to create value for our customers, shareholders, employees, and society by integrating environmental considerations into our decision-making and actions.

Our environmental policy

  • We will comply with all relevant environmental laws and regulations in New Zealand and other countries where we operate, and adhere to the highest standards of environmental management and best practices.
  • We will monitor and measure our environmental performance and impacts, and set and review environmental objectives and targets on a regular basis.
  • We will reduce our environmental footprint by minimizing waste, emissions, energy consumption, water use, and natural resource depletion, and by implementing recycling and reuse programs wherever possible.
  • We will design and develop our products with environmental considerations in mind, and seek to enhance their energy efficiency, durability, recyclability, and safety.
  • We will communicate and promote our environmental policy and practices to our customers, suppliers, employees, and stakeholders, and encourage them to adopt similar principles and actions.
  • We will engage with relevant environmental organizations, authorities, and communities, and participate in initiatives and programs that support environmental protection and conservation.
  • We recognize that our environmental policy is not a static document, but a dynamic and evolving commitment. We will review and update our policy periodically to reflect our changing business environment, stakeholder expectations, and emerging environmental issues and opportunities.
  • We welcome feedback and suggestions from our customers, suppliers, employees, and stakeholders on how we can improve our environmental performance and practices. We will respond to any environmental concerns or complaints promptly and effectively.
  • We will hold ourselves accountable for our environmental performance and practices, and report on our progress and achievements regularly and transparently.

Your HiKOKI Power Tools (and old Hitachi branded models) have been engineered for durability and long service life, with the ability to be regularly maintained and repaired by Authorised Service Centres around New Zealand.

However there will come a time when a tool will need to be disposed of and components recycled where possible. Power Tools contain valuable recyclable metals such as copper, and aluminium, as well as electronic components that can be recycled in order to minimize waste and enable these resources to fulfil a future life.

By using proper disposal facilities, potentially hazardous materials are kept out of landfills, and reduce the risk of injury to people inadvertently attempting to operate these tools in an unsafe condition.

HiKOKI Lithium Ion batteries will also eventually come to the end of their useful life. With lithium being a valuable and limited global resource, it is preferable that these batteries be directed towards facilities that can reuse or recycle as much of the componentry as possible.
